Wood & Multi Fuel Stoves

Convenient, easy to use and low running costs. Wood/Multi-fuel is an efficient and economical method of heating your home. There are a wide range of fuels – Wood, Coal, Smokeless, a choice of alternative fuels to suit your needs. The heat is guaranteed (providing you stock up), this ensures that your home will be warm even in the most adverse weather conditions. Whatever the weather, you don't need to worry about supply failures or power cuts. You can even boil a kettle on a flat-top stove!

Many solid fuel appliances are now multi-fuel and can burn both wood and coal. These include stoves, cookers and freestanding boilers. The manufacturers' specification will tell you what you can burn; this is especially important if the appliance has a boiler. The average output that you can expect will be determined on which fuel you use. Some appliances are manufactured solely for burning wood.

Although the fire is contained behind doors, on many models they can be opened while the fire is alight to allow the warmth and glow of a real fire to complement the room. The doors should remain closed for a more efficient slow burn or when the room is unattended.

Homes with solid fuel heating are better ventilated than those with other forms of heating; the very use of a chimney will induce ventilation in to a home, drawing in fresh air and removing the 'polluted' air.

Get the most from your wood burning stove with properly seasoned logs.

It is essential to burn wood that has been properly ‘seasoned'. In other words; it has been left to completely dry out for between 10 and 24 months depending on the type of wood. Never use chemically treated wood or artificially created products, such as particle board. Ideally you should plan your fuel requirements a season ahead and store your logs in a dry location where air can circulate through them. Managing your log store and preparing logs and kindling is all part of the enjoyment of a wood burning stove and if done correctly will undoubtedly reward you with the natural smells, sights and sounds that are unique to wood burning.
